The FPA is grateful to our External Judges for our 2021 edition:

Dr Zahera Harb is director of MA International Journalism and MA Media and Globalisation programs at City University, London.

She has published widely on Journalism and Politics in the Arab region.

She is co-editor of Middle East Journal and an Associate editor of the academic journal Journalism Practice.

Dr Harb was one of the main news anchors at Tele Liban. At New TV she hosted the main daily political show (Al Hadath) and at Future TV (Pan Arab satellite channel) she produced and presented her own socio-political program. She is a trustee of the Ethical Journalism Network (EJN).

Sir CLIVE JONES is a journalist and a champion of humanitarian causes. He was Chief Executive of ITV News and Regions until 2007 and the longest serving senior executive in ITV. During his career he was Managing Director of the ITV Network, CEO of the Carlton Television Group, MD of Central TV and MD of London News Network. He is now a trustee of the Thomson Foundation, chair of trustees of the Runnymede (UK’s leading independent race equality think tank), and Chair of Sightsavers, a charity that works to prevent avoidable blindness worldwide. He was knighted in 2019.

Doug Wills is Editor Emeritus of the London Evening Standard and The Independent. He has been with the Evening Standard for 30 years, 15 as managing editor and 10 of those as Group Managing Editor, including of the Independent. He was appointed Editor Emeritus in November 2020. Doug trained in journalism with Thomson Regional Newspapers in Berkshire before joining the Western Daily Press in Bristol, becoming political correspondent. He then joined the Reading Evening Post and was appointed deputy editor. Doug moved to London in the mid-80s with the Mirror Group for the launch of the London Daily News. He then joined the Evening Standard. He is also on the board of the Society of Editors and is chair of London Press Club.
